Seeking Wisdom
Because the Lord knows the way we should go
Dear Friends,
Lately I’ve been asking God for wisdom.
Of course, it’s always a needed quality, but I’m especially seeking wisdom regarding a couple of present situations. Can you relate? If so, we can be encouraged by God’s promise to provide wisdom.
“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5, NASB
This verse enables us to pursue wisdom in three ways:
Confidently - God always keeps His promises.
Expectantly - God gives generously.
Boldly - God doesn’t criticize us for asking.
Additionally, we seek wisdom in a Person.
God perfectly expresses wisdom in the His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who left the glories of heaven to dwell on earth as a man. Fully God and fully Man — that in itself displays God’s wisdom.
“And the Child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him … And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” Luke 2:40, 52
As Jesus grew, He increased in wisdom. It developed within Him over the years, granting Him favor with God and man. Christ wisely interacted with everyone — God was and is pleased with everything about His Son.
Our pursuit of wisdom equals a pursuit of Christ.
Jesus Christ is the One “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3). I love that. The more we know Him, love Him, and imitate Him, the more wisdom we will possess.
In what situation do you need wisdom today?
Please be assured of God’s provision. He knows your heart’s desire, and He will respond to your request.
“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32
Let’s wait on the Lord with eager anticipation.
HE is the wisdom we seek, and He will bless us with an understanding of how to proceed.
“And your ears will hear a word behind you, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right or to the left.” Isaiah 30:21
Praise the mighty name of Jesus.
In Christ’s Love,
